2017 Lincoln MKZ Earns Top Safety Ratings

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the 2017 Lincoln MKZ Top Safety Pick due to it's frontal crash prevention system. To receive this exclusive award, a vehicle must past several tests and earn top ratings from their frontal crash prevention system, in which the 2017 Lincoln MKZ did! Other factors that led to the Top Safety Pick was it's front-end structure that boost the vehicle's small overlap front rating and crash prevention system. During the IIHS track tests, the 2017 Lincoln MKZ avoided collisions at 12 mph and 25 mph.

Other safety shield technologies the 2017 Lincoln MKZ has to offer is its Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection. It uses camera and radar technology to track the proximity to other cars and pedestrians. If there is a potential collision, the program alerts you with visible and audio warnings and if the collision is imminent, the breaks increase sensitivity and is pre-charged if necessary.

In addition, the lane-keeping system uses a forward-facing camera to detect lane markings. If you start drifting away from your lane, the system alerts you by a steering wheel vibration and applies steering wheel torque.

One of the Lincoln MKZ's most notable safety technologies is it's Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert. This system uses radar sensors to alert drivers with lights in their sideview mirrors if another vehicle is detected in the Lincoln MKZ's blindspot. When you or another driver is backing up, it can detect a vehicle approaching from either side, notifying you with a warning light and audible tone.
